The MMOsketeers #33: Hotbars for Sale!

1 hour 1 min - Published Tue, Nov 6, 2012 by Arkenor Oakshadow, Petter Mårtensson and Teppo Tastic

You’d think hotbars would be a core functionality in MMOs these days, as they have been for ages, but not according to Bioware and EA it seems – now they are a premium commodity. The Three MMOsketeers tackle the subject of Star Wars: The Old Republic‘s F2P matrix with a vengeance in this episode.

This, of course, brings them to talk about F2P cash shop practices in general, with special attention paid to companies like Perfect World and SOE-games like Vanguard and Everquest II. There’s also a discussion about what it and what isn’t OK to monetize, and our MMOsketeers find themselves on different sides of the fence about unlocking high-level gear…

There’s also a lot of talk about the infamous clock tower that turned up during Guild Wars 2‘s Halloween-event and if one-shot events can work in a MMO or not.

Also, who cares about Petter’s Star Wars Galaxies-box? Luke Skywalker, of course!
