The MMOsketeers #36: Ban the Bad Guys

A day late, the Three MMOsketeers convened in a podcast near you to discuss the latest happenings in the world of MMOs – including the President of Sony Online Entertainment, John Smedley, and his announcement of a righteous crusade against the hackers who plague Planetside 2.

Smedley has taken to Twitter to threaten the Planetside 2 cheaters, which we discussed last week after our interview with Trion’s Adam Gershowitz was over. “Goodbye you scumbag,” the Smedlinator wrote on Twitter about one cheater. To the others, Smed said that “we’ll find you. we’ll find your family. we’ll hunt you down”. While we haven’t forgotten about former misdeeds, we sure have forgiven him! We now love him and his Twitter feed.

Then there are the fun ideas coming from Turbine, some pretty unfestive layoffs at both NCsoft and Petroglyph and top League of Legends-players being banned from the game for being idiots.

We also kick off a brand new segment on the show, In MMOriam, where we discuss the fallen games of old – this week about City of Heroes, which was just shut down. We’ll still cry “#saveCOH” and “rage, rage against the dying of the light”. Finally, if you are one of the many that feel sad about the game’s demise, we have some poetry for you.
