Claims of the Normal #20: 2011-05-05

- Published Thu, May 5, 2011 by Arkenor Oakshadow, Breki Tomasson and Petter Mårtensson

Another Wednesday came and went, and with it another episode of Claims of the Normal!

This week, our main news story on the Woes and Winnings of the World was all about The SOEpocalypse! Non-US credit card details appear to have been kept on an outdated database, and are thus the only ones stolen. Arkenor’s secondary account was affected and he is not best pleased. According to some media sources, the service will be down ‘till Friday, possibly longer (link)

About 12,700 credit or debit card numbers, along with expiration dates, belonging to people outside the United States may have been stolen along with 10,700 direct debit records of customers in Austria, Germany, Netherlands, and Spain.

From The Wired and Wonderful this week, we had this:

  • Double Entendre Identification gets a scholarly grant. (link)
  • International Star Wars day sees all movies finally coming on in a Blu-Ray box set with over 40 hours of special features. There are commentaries on each disc plus a host of new documentaries about the films. (link)
  • Teefury had a competition that auto-sent a twitter-message from your account to @nerdist and @wilw. It was not appreciated by the two of them… Don’t be dicks, Teefury.
  • Petter has finished Portal 2. What to say without spoiling the crap out of it? Was it good or not? :)

Last, but not least, an exciting general nerd trivia round with questions about Dune, Star Trek, Star Wars and comics saw another exciting result! Listen in and enjoy!

Claims of the Normal

Claims of the Normal was the first show to launch on the CSICON Network. Originally intended as the only show to run on the website (the 'con' in CSICON stands for Claims of the Normal, after all), it quickly became the launch vehicle for so much more. Breki and Petter started the show, and got Arkenor on board, and it all just went from there.

The show, over time, was replaced by The MMOsketeers, starring Petter, Arkenor and Teppo, as well as Instanews, starring Breki and Jack. None of these shows exist in their original form, but the legacy created by Claims of the Normal lives on.

If you want to get in touch with the people behind the episode or talk to others who like it, feel free to join the CSICONauts chat room. Alternatively, you can find some of this episode's hosts and/or guests on Twitter: Arkenor Oakshadow, Breki Tomasson and Petter Mårtensson.
