Claims of the Normal #36: 2011-07-04

1 hour 17 mins - Published Mon, Jul 4, 2011 by Arkenor Oakshadow, Breki Tomasson and Petter Mårtensson

It was our six month anniversary for the podcast – and for – so we decided (well, okay, I decided…) to pull out all the stops and go live via UStream and offer people the ability to phone in with comments during the podcast!

The big topic for today’s episode was, of course, Google+ and all that’s been going on there. We were (surprisingly) more or less in agreeance with each other that it’s not going to be a major challenger to Facebook, but it will definitely be cutting into the market share. More than that is hard to say before we see more of what they’re adding to the site.

Then we had a Quiz Kids segment, and I think we’re beginning to be more or less done with these sorts of questions and are looking forwards to going back to geek trivia. Not to say anything bad about your work, Scott Campbell, we’ve had great fun with your questions, but we all seem to think that Quiz Kids is just more fun when everybody has an equal chance of winning. So – back to geek trivia from now on! Who knows; maybe Arkenor will lose for once?

Other things we brought up in the Wired and Wonderful:

Claims of the Normal

Claims of the Normal was the first show to launch on the CSICON Network. Originally intended as the only show to run on the website (the 'con' in CSICON stands for Claims of the Normal, after all), it quickly became the launch vehicle for so much more. Breki and Petter started the show, and got Arkenor on board, and it all just went from there.

The show, over time, was replaced by The MMOsketeers, starring Petter, Arkenor and Teppo, as well as Instanews, starring Breki and Jack. None of these shows exist in their original form, but the legacy created by Claims of the Normal lives on.
