Claims of the Normal #40: 2011-07-21

1 hour 5 mins - Published Thu, Jul 21, 2011 by Arkenor Oakshadow, Breki Tomasson and Petter Mårtensson

Sunday’s show was postponed due to the lagging of the jets. When we recorded it on Monday, it was completely annihilated due to technical issues that caused me to travel through time. It was quite spectacular, to be honest.

That said, Wednesday came along, and the time was ripe for another podcast. As this was the 40th episode, several changes were made (intentionally, unintentionally, accidentally and due to sheer forgetfulness).

First of all, the entire episode was sponsored by Dr. Toerag, who let us know that Claims of the Normal saved him from silence when his favorite podcast, the VanHemlock Podcast, decided to go on an extended holiday. Thanks for that, Doc. If you want to sponsor the show and have us read out anything you want us to read out (imagine the possibilities), just visit csicon.org/csicon-podcasts and read the instructions.

Secondly, this episode marks the beginning of Deathmatch of Death and More Death! This is a new segment that you’ve probably already noticed if you’re on csicon.org. Every Wednesday, a new death match will be introduced and discussed on the podcast. After that, for a week’s time, people will be allowed to vote for which of the two contestants they believe would win in a one-on-one battle … to the death! The first week, as you’ve seen; the contestants were Neo versus C-3P0!

Thirdly, I completely forgot to play a vintage commercial or Public Service Announcement!

Fourthly, there were no real news to talk about this episode. Nothing about any specific game company that’s been doing something. Nothing about drama within the EVE community. Nothing about an EQ2 news story. Weird, really.

Claims of the Normal

Claims of the Normal was the first show to launch on the CSICON Network. Originally intended as the only show to run on the website csicon.org (the 'con' in CSICON stands for Claims of the Normal, after all), it quickly became the launch vehicle for so much more. Breki and Petter started the show, and got Arkenor on board, and it all just went from there.

The show, over time, was replaced by The MMOsketeers, starring Petter, Arkenor and Teppo, as well as Instanews, starring Breki and Jack. None of these shows exist in their original form, but the legacy created by Claims of the Normal lives on.
