Coffee With Jeff #87: The Mysterious Death of Thelma Todd

31 mins - Published Sun, May 8, 2016 by Jeff Kelley

In December of 1935, Thelma Todd, a very successful actor in Hollywood, was discovered dead in her car. She was not yet 30 years old. The cause of death was carbon monoxide poisoning. Most reports list her death as either accidental or suicide. Yet, there are lingering doubts about the circumstances of her death. She was a bubbly, sexy blonde, who was known as Hot Toddy and the Ice Cream Blond, a young girl who like to socialize and party. She was also an actor who displayed sharp comic timing, best known for her two movies with the Marx Brothers and, at the time of her death, was hoping to take on more dramatic roles. One night in December, she left a party at a local club, drove home by her chauffeur, and never seen alive again.

Was it an accident, a suicide or murder!
