Instanews #3: 2012-02-15

47 mins - Published Wed, Feb 15, 2012 by Breki Tomasson and Jack Marshall

Some of last week’s connection problems carried over from last episode, but if it keeps going in this direction, we should be problem-free next episode!

This week, we talked about Jonathan Liebesman wanting to make a new Turtles movie, the possibility of another modern-day Sherlock Holmes series, how a George R.R. Martin-lookalike reads children’s stories in the style of Game of Thrones, how annoyed I am at not recognizing the background music, trailers for movies like Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, Iron Sky, The Hunger Games, Ghost Rider 2, Seeking a Friend for the End of the World, Battleship and many, many more.

Find us at @BrekiT and @Tofu_Jack; we’ll be back in a couple of days! Bonus points to anybody who knows what the song is, because I’m seriously about to explode here! It starts 45 seconds into this video. Anybody? :-)

Instanews was another one of Breki's attempts to create a tech news podcast in the long chain of iterative podcasts that includes Geek Positive, CSICON Radio, The Brainstorm and Geekdays. It ran for 129 episodes, initially co-hosted by Jack Marshall and, in the final run of episodes, by Teppo Tastic.

Both Petter Mårtensson and Arkenor Oakshadow featured as regular guests for a segment known as The Deathmatch of Death and More Death, a ladder-style competition that pit heroes and villains from popular culture against each other. Petter and Arkenor would argue the case for their randomly picked hero of the week, and listeners would vote via the website.
