Movieing On #247: Highlander

1 hour 4 mins - Published Mon, Jul 10, 2017 by Breki Tomasson, Nancy Frye and Toerag

Once upon a time, there was a movie. It didn’t do very well, but people remembered it fondly, so they made a sequel. It was pretty bad. So they made another sequel, and it was also pretty bad. People looked upon the faces of the sequels and realized that the original movie was actually really pretty damned good – at least in comparison – and so a cult movie was born.

This week, the Movieing On team sits down to watch Highlander, the 1986 original starring Christopher Lambert with a not very convincing Scottish accent starring opposite Sean Connery with a not very convincing Spanish accent in a not very convincing movie about people who cannot die. … It’s better than I make it sound, actually.

Movieing On

Movieing On was a project that we've wanted to do for a long time, and the pieces all fell together in March of 2012, when we began planning the first episode. Featuring some of the CSICON crew's most amazing people, we watch a movie from 1999 or earlier and discuss it.

If you want to get in touch with the people behind the episode or talk to others who like it, feel free to join the CSICONauts chat room. Alternatively, you can find some of this episode's hosts and/or guests on Twitter: Breki Tomasson, Nancy Frye and Toerag.
