Hi; I’m Breki Tomasson, founder and editor-in-chief of CSICON, home of geek culture on the Internet. I’m here today to give you all an update from CSICON headquarters and let you know a little bit more about what’s been going on here this year and outline some of the plans we have for next year.
Before I do that, however, I’ve just got to give my sincerest thanks to all of you out there. Thank you from me and from everybody here at CSICON. Whether you come to us to read or to listen to the stuff that we make, you’re the reason that we continue to produce great content, day in and day out. Without your feedback, your downloads, your comments and your support, we wouldn’t be where we are today.
The year 2012 has been an exciting one for all of us here at CSICON. We’ve outperformed 2011 in every single metric we can imagine. We launched five new podcasts; The Three MMOsketeers, Geek Positive, Retrograde, Enochian Frequency and Movieing On. If you’re not familiar with our podcasts, just head on over to csicon.org/podcasts for everything you need to know. We recruited a couple of new writers throughout the year, wrote more than 2,000 posts and received an amazing amount of positive feedback from our readers and our listeners.
2012 also saw the end of Claims of the Normal, a podcast that I ran together with Petter and Arkenor ever since I launched the website in January of 2011. Today; I’m happy to announce that Claims of the Normal will be returning to the CSICON Network in the beginning of next year with a slightly revamped format. In case you’re wondering; Quiz Kids will be making a triumphant comeback! Look for it on Sunday, January 6th!
Also, at some point in the first half of next year, we’ll be launching a new podcast called In Medias Res, where I will be joined by two people every other week to talk about current events and the state of content creation and consumption, the Internet, comics, television, cinema and so on. Using a current event as a starting off point, we’ll be discussing whatever feels most relevant and natural to the three of us. Podcast guests will rotate and often include interesting people from outside of CSICON regulars.
We will also aim to continue to improve our coverage of technology, comics, movies, television and all the news which you think are relevant.
Again; thank you, everybody, for making CSICON such a great place for us during the year, and here’s to hoping 2013 is even better.
